Britney Spears and Car Insurance Premiums

Did you know that people such as Britney Spears cause the cost of car insurance to rise? Consider the following thoughts.

Car insurance premiums (in part) are calculated using mathematical data including statistics on car accidents. Those statistics are simply a reflection of the driving incidents of people. People like me, you, Britney Spears and everyone else. However, some people have a greater impact on those statistics than others.

Do you remember when Britney Spears was involved in a rather serious auto incident? Those types of incidents are some of the most costly to insurance companies. Where do you think a car insurance company gets the money to pay for claims? From car insurance premiums which are usually spread out among all car insurance purchasers (pretty much every adult who owns a car).

So, next time you hear of someone like Britney Spears or anyone else doing something goofy like that – remember that it’s not so goofy when you realize it affects your bank account.

Cheap Car Insurance for Teenagers

Looking for cheap car insurance for your teenage drivers? Here’s a true story you can learn from. A friend of mine (we’ll call him John Smith) has two teenagers (that’s right, two teenage drivers), he had car insurance from the same car insurance company for almost twenty years.

John contacted his longtime car insurance company to find out if he could “do anything” to move the drivers around (teenagers) - from one car to another – thereby lowering the premiums. His longtime car insurance company said no.

Desperate, John began to shop around. Eventually he found a car insurance company who would move drivers around (teenagers) on the different cars in an attempt to lower the car insurance premiums. I don’t remember exactly, but I think he said he would be saving close to $1000 a year in car insurance premiums – that’s cheap car insurance.

John went to his car insurance company of twenty years – explaining that he would be changing car insurance companies – he was polite and stated he regretted making the move but he would be forced to make the change - given the cheap car insurance he had found.

Hearing the bad news, his car insurance company had a “quick meeting” and decided they could help John after all. When he walked out of his car insurance company of twenty years – John had lowered is car insurance premiums by about $1200 per year (teenagers included with basically the same coverage).

Needless to say, he was very happy with the new premiums, but very unhappy with the way his long time car insurance company had treated him.

So what you say? Learn this: Car insurance companies – when push comes to shove - are much like any other business. They don’t want to lose a customer and they want to get new customers. Car insurance companies can be more flexible than they let on (usually) - if you give them a chance. Learn from this story – how you too can play one car insurance company off of another in order to get that cheap car insurance for teenagers that you and your family deserve.

Car Insurance on the Cheap

Car insurance can be one of your largest monthly expenses. Often car insurance premiums can cost more than a car payment. Taking your time to find cheap car insurance can save you thousands of dollars over a few years. Your best chance for finding cheap car insurance is to check out every car insurance company you can find. You’ll see ads for cheap car insurance quotes on the internet almost everywhere you look. However, keep a few things in mind when you’re shopping for cheap car insurance.

Most car insurance companies will try to get you to sign up with them before you have a chance to find out what the other car insurance companies quotes will be. One strategy the car insurance companies use is to have you give them all your contact information when you request the car insurance quote. Trust me, they’ll be calling you. It’s ok to give the car insurance companies the information they desire – they’ll need it to offer you an accurate car insurance quote. However, when a person from the car insurance company contacts you to offer you your cheap quote – it’s vital that you don’t accept that offer until you’ve received all your other car insurance quotes.

One strategy for dealing with car insurance companies who are quite assertive in their attempt to get you to accept their cheap car insurance quote is to have a “line” ready to tell each of them who contact you. You don’t need to worry about being rude or anything. You simply say “Thanks for the car insurance quote, but I will not be making a decision until I receive all the car insurance quotes I’ve requested - have a good day” - then hang up the phone. You can even read it from this article. They will probably try to say something else to get you to accept their cheap quote –however, you will have already been hanging up the phone. Be sure to offer this same response to each salesperson who contacts you about the cheap car insurance quote.

Next, continue your research collecting car insurance quotes from every car insurance company you can find. Don’t let the salespeople talk you into anything. After you’ve received each of your car insurance quotes – take a close look at all the car insurance policies. Pick out two or three of the car insurance policies with the cheapest quotes, compare the car insurance policies to make sure they are similar with the same insurance coverage. Now, you’re ready to pick the cheap car insurance quote and contact the car insurance company with your decision to purchase the cheap car insurance, not the decision that a cheap car insurance salesperson talked you into.

Auto Insurance and the Uninsured Motorist

Auto insurance is actually a great thing. I realize it gets old when you’re required to purchase anything – especially insurance you might not even use. Since you’re required by law to purchase auto insurance anyway – you should take a serious look at purchasing uninsured motorist insurance. Often, the extra coverage doesn’t add much money to your policy – but the consequences of not owning uninsured motorist with your auto insurance policy could be devastating.

Just as people are legally required to obey the speed limit – often folks make the choice of exceeding that speed limit…..right? Well, just as auto insurance is required by law – sometimes people make foolish decisions to drive without auto insurance – the uninsured motorist. It happens – don’t be fooled. Every day people drive without proper auto insurance coverage. Sure, they’ll most likely get caught sooner or later. But think about the potential consequences to you if they happen to cause an auto accident – causing serious damage to your vehicle? Will your auto insurance policy cover the damage to your vehicle? If you only have liability auto insurance – your coverage will probably only apply when you cause an auto accident and damage to another person’s vehicle. This means the uninsured motorist will have caused serious damage to your vehicle – and nobody is going to help you fix your auto. Sure, you can try to sue this person – however, if they’re driving illegally - without any auto insurance – you probably won’t be able to get a dime out of them anyway. Not good!

This is why I would recommend you take a look at your auto insurance policy and check to see if it covers damage from the uninsured motorist. If your auto insurance policy doesn’t cover uninsured motorists – you should ask how much money it will cost to add this coverage. It might only cost a few dollars extra per month.

Auto Insurance Quotes – 3 Do’s and 3 Don’ts

Auto insurance quotes are not unlike many other products for which you shop online. You truly need to shop around for them. Take a look at this list of 3 things you should do and 3 things you shouldn’t do when shopping for the best auto insurance quotes.

First we’ll take a look at 3 Do’s:

1) Make sure you get auto insurance quotes from at lease five auto insurance companies. Don’t jump at the first good rates you see. After all, you wouldn’t purchase the first auto you look at on the lot – shop around.

2) When submitting information required to receive your auto insurance quotes – make sure you submit information that is as accurate and complete as possible. The auto insurance quote is only as good as the information you submit.

3) Make sure the auto insurance quotes you get are for similar auto insurance policies. If the auto insurance policies are different – you won’t be able to trust the quality of the auto insurance quotes.

Now, we’ll take a look at 3 Don’ts:

1) Don’t let the sales person who contacts you with your auto insurance quotes talk you into switching to their company until you’ve had a chance to analyze the auto insurance quotes from each insurance company.

2) Don’t let flashy auto insurance gimmicks motivate your decision to change auto insurance quotes. Often these flashy gimmicks sound good – but you probably won’t even use them.

3) Don’t forget to obtain auto insurance quotes with a wide range of deductible amounts. I’ve found that by raising my auto insurance deductible amount by only a few hundred dollars – I’ve saved thousands over the long haul.

Car Insurance Quotes – 5 Steps to the Best Quotes

Car insurance quotes have become quite popular. Everywhere you look – someone is telling you how much money you’ll save – enticing you to look up their car insurance quotes. Before leaping into the murky pool of car insurance quotes – take a look at these five steps that will surely help you get the best quotes.

1) There are many car insurance companies that will gladly compete for your business. Obtain car insurance quotes from at least five car insurance companies. After all, most people shop around before making a major purchase – it only makes sense to shop around when looking for car insurance quotes.

2) When filling out the necessary information to obtain car insurance quotes – be certain the information you submit is accurate. Car insurance companies tend to find out “things” anyway, so you might as well be as accurate as possible. Car insurance quotes are only as good as the information upon which they were calculated. It’s important that the information you use to obtain your quote is the same information the car insurance company will use when writing your policy.

3) Obtaining car insurance quotes will usually require that you submit information such that a “salesperson” will be contacting you sometime after you receive the quotes. It’s important that you don’t let this person talk you into purchasing a car insurance policy until you have received car insurance quotes from all of the insurance companies you’re researching. You don’t need to be rude – but simply inform the “salesperson” that your research is not yet completed and you won’t be making a decision today.

4) When you have received all the car insurance quotes – narrow the list down to the two best quotes. Do some research on those two car insurance companies. Focus on the aspects of service which are most important to you.

5) Most importantly, make sure you are the person in charge of the car insurance quotes. More specifically, take all the necessary steps to insure that you will truly receive those rates that were quoted. In other words, don’t let a car insurance company offer you attractive car insurance quotes – then tell you later that because of “this or that” you will need to pay more. Remember, you are the customer – you’re in control and there are many other car insurance companies that will always be interested in your business.
